MARDI GRASMardi Gras in Northwest Louisiana is a lively and vibrant celebration that brings together many people. The city comes alive with colorful parades, music, dancing, and a joyful atmosphere. Along with the parades, Shreveport’s Mardi Gras offers a wide array of activities for people of all ages. Live music performances, masquerade balls, and festive parties are just some of the many events that take place throughout the season. The local cuisine plays a significant role as well, with delicious Louisiana specialties like gumbo, jambalaya, and king cake being enjoyed by all. While New Orleans may be the most famous destination for Mardi Gras in Louisiana, Shreveport offers its own unique and exciting experience.
Krewe of Centaur
Formed in 1991, the Krewe of Centaur hosts one of the largest parades in all of Louisiana, rolling 10 days before Fat Tuesday. This event is a Southeast Tourism Society Top 20 Event.
Krewe Of Gemini
The Krewe of Gemini is the first parading Krewe in modern times in Shreveport and Bossier City, Louisiana. Parade attendees can catch limitless beads, trinkets, stuffed animals, toys, and more from masked revelers on the floats. This event is a Southeast Tourism Society Top 20 Event.
Krewe of Highland
Shreveport’s most eccentric krewe welcomes everyone to attend this funky, family friendly neighborhood parade, which is famous for its unpredictable throws including ramen noodles, hot dogs, and moon pies. This event is a Southeast Tourism Society Top 20 Event.
Krewe of Harambee
In 2000, a group of African Americans came together to see how minorities could become more involved in Mardi Gras in Shreveport. The group formed the Krewe of Harambee in the spirit of the African American culture and is the first African American Krewe in Shreveport.
Krewe of Barkus & Meoux
Formed in 1999 as a non-profit animal organization to benefit abused, neglected and homeless animals. The Krewe sponsors the Krewe of Barkus & Meoux Pet Parade during Mardi Gras and promotes other charitable functions throughout the year.
Krewe of Justinian
The Krewe of Justinian was formed in 1994 for area attorneys, judges and other people interested in the legal affairs of the community to participate and promote the celebration of Mardi Gras in the Ark-La-Tex.
Krewe of Elders
The Krewe of Elders began in 1998 for Shreveport residents 50 and older. The Krewe’s mission
is to help provide a “budget-friendly” way to be a part of Mardi Gras and to bring the fun and spirit of the season to nursing homes, children’s hospitals and veteran’s hospitals.
Krewe of Oceanus
Formed in January 2020 by the residents of Southern Hills, it is a nonprofit organization committed to make what charitable donations they can to the Southern Hills community and help foster an enduring rapport between the businesses and residents.

Krewe of Atlas
The Krewe of Atlas’ purpose is to bring today’s modern cultural diversity to the time-honored traditions and festivities of Shreveport and Bossier. They encourage camaraderie and fellowship by providing an opportunity to support the work of local charities and nonprofit organizations.
Krewe of Excellence
The Krewe of Excellence was specifically designed for LSU alumni 40 and younger to stay engaged with the College of Agriculture after they graduate. Krewe members assist with recruitment and outreach efforts as well as serving as a brand ambassador helping attract more Tigers.
Krewe of Nemesis
The Krewe of Nemesis was formed in Webster Parish as a creative outlet for a group of close friends with a mission to be a social organization as well as a civic one.
Krewe of Demeter
Based in Desoto Parish, the Krewe of Demeter was organized in 2015. As DeSoto Parish has historically been an agrarian economy heavily based upon farming, ranching and forestry. Demeter, the Goddess of Harvest and Agriculture, was selected as our Krewe name.
Krewe of Dionysos
The Krewe of Dionysos is named after the ancient Greek God of winemaking and wine along with “inspired madness.” With that in mind, this Krewe was founded in 1985 by a group of Northshore businessmen with the intention to bring a family-oriented old fashioned Mardi Gras good time.
