PARKS & RECREATION

Northwest Louisiana is a big part of the Sportsman’s Paradise and is home to a variety of parks, sporting options and wild outdoor venues. The region offers a multitude of outdoor activities ranging from  golf and tennis , wildlife observation and falconry to mountain biking and water skiing. There are also more than 30 parks in the area, all of which offer a variety of activities for people of all ages.

CADDO LAKE

Caddo Lake is a 25,400-acre lake and bayou on the border between Texas and Louisiana. Caddo Lake hosts owls, snakes, frogs, waterfowl, bobcats, river otters, beavers, eagles, and alligators as well as numerous types of fish. Kayaking, boating and fishing are all available on Caddo Lake.

WALTER B. JACOBS PARK

Located three miles west of Blanchard, the 160-acre nature park contains a pine-oak-hickory forest accessible by five miles of nature trails. The park has an interpretive building, a rentable pavilion with restrooms, a handicapped-accessible trail, and several naturalists who provide information and interpretation to park visitors. Nature oriented programs are available on an appointment basis.

PIERREMONT OAKS TENNIS CLUB

Pierremont Oaks Tennis Club is one of the premier tennis clubs in Louisiana. With Pierremont Oaks’ twelve Har-Tru courts, seven Laykold courts, and six permanent Pickleball courts, there is an activity for everyone! Pierremont Oaks also boasts an Olympic size pool, a fitness facility, and a full-service bar and restaurant. Pierremont Oaks also has a three thousand square foot event space for hosting special events and large tournaments. Pierremont Oaks Tennis Club was named the Louisiana “Facility of the Year” in 2016, 2017 and again in 2021.

SHREVEPORT YACHT CLUB

The Shreveport Yacht Club is located on the south shore of beautiful Cross Lake in Shreveport, Louisiana. Cross Lake covers approximately 8,576 acres and has 70 plus miles of shoreline. The lake provides the water supply for the City of Shreveport. Bald cypress trees line the banks and the lake is popular for recreational boating, fishing and hunting.

DAVID TOMS GOLF ACADEMY

The David Toms 265 Academy is a World Class Instruction and Training Facility for golfers of all skill levels. We offer training for beginners all the way to experts trying to keep their skills at peak performance.

The facility features a 9-hole par 3 course designed to simulate approach shots on par 4’s or a third shot into a par 5 hole.   Eight practice greens offer the golfer the  opportunity to hone their putting, chipping, pitching, and bunker skills with precision.

WALLACE LAKE

Wallace Lake Dam is managed by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers.  It is located fourteen miles southeast of Shreveport on picturesque Cypress Bayou.  It is a wooded lake containing beautiful moss draped cypress trees and is considered to be one of the best crappie fishing lakes in the area. 

AMERICAN ROSE CENTER

The spectacular Gardens of the American Rose Center are located on a 118-acre wooded tract near Shreveport, Louisiana. The gardens are home to the national headquarters of the American Rose Society and the nation’s largest park dedicated to roses.

EASTRIDGE COUNTRY CLUB

Directions:

Exit onto I20 East; from I-20 East, exit onto Market Street South, merge into left lane, merge onto Youree Drive (Highway 1 South), go south on Youree Drive to intersection of East Stoner Avenue, turn left on East Stoner to site at the end of the road.

Directions:

From I49 North: Exit onto I-20 East, from I-20 East, cross Red River. Exit onto Highway 71 South, go south on Highway 71 to intersection of Airline Drive and McDade Drive, turn right onto McDade Drive to intersection of Teague Parkway; turn left on Teague Parkway and proceed south until you cross under the Barksdale bridge, then turn right into the park.
