Many Creatures to Discover at Natchitoches Alligator Park

View All Parks & Rec

Louisiana’s most famous reptile is the focus of the Natchitoches Alligator Park, where hundreds of American Alligators live in their natural habitat. The park celebrates every aspect of these prehistoric creatures, where families and kids regularly flock to view lively and informative demonstrations of alligator farming and presentations on wildlife conservation efforts. From “youngsters” just a few feet long to 1,000-plus-pound giants and a rare albino alligator, there’s something for everyone.

Visitors also get the chance to touch and hold alligators during the one-of-a-kind Alligator Island Show, and view other native creatures representing Louisiana’s rich and varied ecology, including the alligator snapping turtle. A reptile house displays reptiles from around the globe, including plated lizards, caiman crocodiles and water dragons.

The fun at the Natchitoches Alligator Park doesn’t stop with alligators and other reptiles though. The “Rocky Raccoon Resort” allows visitors to safely feed raccoon, and tour a jungle room featuring snakes from around the planet, a Turtle Town display and a petting zoo whose inhabitants include pygmy goats, miniature horses and peacocks.
