View All Sports

Shreveport Independence Stadium rocks with more than 22,000 spectators each September during Battle on the Border. The high school football showcase features 10 top teams from Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas and Mississippi. Marching bands, cheerleaders, pep squads and mascots accompany players, creating an exhilarating event for area families and sports enthusiasts.

Since it launched in 2011, the event has expanded to fill two days, allowing for five full-length games with half-time performances and related activities. Battle on the Border began as a friendly tournament in this sports-loving region, featuring a series of football games between high school teams from districts with no named champion.

Participating hotels and restaurants offer special deals for ticket holders. Tickets are available at general admission and club levels, the latter offering covered and/or air-conditioned seating and free food. A Family Fun Zone is up and running throughout the tournament, with inflatable games, fitness stations, face painting and lots of fun activities for high school football fans, young and old.
