Families Enjoy Lush Green Space in Walter B. Jacobs Nature Park

View All Parks & Rec

Nature is easy to reach and ready to enjoy at the 160-acre Walter B. Jacobs Memorial Nature Park. Five miles of well-marked, handicapped-accessible paths wind through the park’s pine, oak and hickory forest. Park visitors can enjoy exhibits including:

  • Animal habitats
  • Live falconry demonstrations
  • Outdoor drawing and journaling classes
  • Wildlife-observation spots

Free and open to the public, Jacobs Memorial Nature Park presents varied, family-friendly programming. Children can participate in up-close interactions with the park’s reptiles and learn more about the region’s ecosystem at the summer day camp, “Earth Camp.” On-site naturalists provide commentary and insights into the park’s habitat and wildlife, and Shreveport’s mild weather means the park is accessible nearly year-round.
