Exhilarating Urban Adventure Race Requires Athleticism and Strategy

View All Sports

The YMCA of Northwest Louisiana’s Urban Adventure Race is an adventure contest that takes place several times throughout the year. Teams of two compete in the race, which includes different types of physical and problem-solving activities. Each leg of the race features a new challenge to finish and a new destination to reach, with many requiring participants to solve puzzles in order to advance.

The first leg begins in downtown Shreveport where each team is given a map, initial set of clues and a passport that will be stamped at various points throughout the city. New clues are disseminated throughout the course. Participants bring water, bike helmets, smart phones, and pencil and paper.

The Urban Adventure Race is considered a moderate to strenuous activity and often includes:

  • 10-15 miles of biking
  • 3-5 miles of running
  • Creative stunts
  • Kayaking
  • Navigating and problem solving
